2009 SFJAZZ Gala

Saturday, April 25, 2009
Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco

Mark your calendar for a fun and fabulous event, honoring legendary pianist and composer McCoy Tyner! One of the most influential musicians of the last 50 years, Tyner was propelled to worldwide fame in the early 1960s with The John Coltrane Quartet—one of the truly seminal groups in jazz history. He has released nearly 80 albums under his own name and toured the world with both big and small bands.

Festivities begin with a reception featuring culinary delights, signature cocktails and a silent auction. The program proceeds to a sumptuous seated dinner, where guests will enjoy performances by McCoy Tyner, the SFJAZZ High School All-Stars and members of the SFJAZZ Collective. We cap off this stellar evening with the “SFJAZZ After Jam"—a lively affair with delectable dessert buffet, coffee and cordials, dancing and performances by surprise musical guests.

Please join us as we celebrate the life’s work of McCoy Tyner and the 10th Anniversary of the SFJAZZ Spring Season. Previous Galas have sold out and raised over $250,000 annually for SFJAZZ Education. The 2009 Gala is sure to be just as popular, attracting 400 to 500 guests, so don’t miss this exclusive event!

Individual tickets from $375 each. tables from $6,500. For more information and to make reservations call the SFJAZZ development department at 415-283-0326 or email gala@sfjazz.org.

Here are a couple reviews from last year's Gala.

We’ve prepared a concert photo gallery to keep the memories swinging just a little longer.
