Miguel ZenonEach year, in addition to the multi-week San Francisco residency of the SFJAZZ Collective, a single member of the eight person all-star group returns for a second residency—the SFJAZZ Collective Solo Spotlight Residency—designed to enhance audiences’ appreciation of jazz and demystify the music-making process. The second annual Solo Spotlight Residency features pianist and Collective founding member Renee Rosnes.

Residency Event: Open Souncheck

As part of the residency program, SFJAZZ Members enjoy exclusive access to Rosnes’ soundcheck at Herbst Theatre prior to her double-bill performance on Thursday, November 8, with fellow Collective member and jazz sax legend Joe Lovano. Beginning at 5:15 p.m., the event will include a brief talk in the Herbst lobby by SFJAZZ technical staff, followed by the musicians’ soundcheck. Rosnes will also share insights into her music and field Members’ questions.

The Soundcheck is open to all SFJAZZ Members—including those who have not purchased tickets to the 7:30 p.m. concert. Open Soundcheck attendees wishing to buy tickets for the Rosnes/Lovano concert can do so at the Herbst box office beginning at 6:00 p.m. To make a reservation, please call 415-398-5655 x125.

The fall 2007 Collective Spotlight Residency is made possible by The James Irvine Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Herb Alpert Foundation, and the Members of SFJAZZ.
