  • “Dick Hyman…can do practically anything on a piano.” – The New York Times

Thelonious Monk’s piano style is rooted in the Harlem stride of Fats Waller and James P. Johnson. Modern stride-masters Hyman (the musical mind behind many Woody Allen films), Thompson, and Bay Area-based Lipskin—all featured performers at past SFJAZZ Stride Summits—will exhibit the pulsing rhythms and virtuosic improvisation of this classic American style.
